I was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease called Gillian Barre syndrome in October 2023, which left me partially paralysed. Given the nature of the condition, I was relatively hopeful that full recovery from the peripheral nerve damage in my limbs would take place within weeks of the diagnosis. As time went I regained certain mobility back within a few months, but I became increasingly frustrated by the extremely slow recovery since then and accepted it as a chronic condition with my independence being limited by restricted mobility particularly in my feet, as well as significant fatigue accompanied by tremors. This is when I stumbled upon Yanagi’s hydrogen therapy. I knew it was a well-regarded therapy widely available in Japan, but did not think this would be accessible here in the UK. Fumi from Yanagi was understanding and meticulous with the whole process of dealing. I gave the benefit of the doubt. It has been only 3 weeks into the therapy. The easiest thing I noticed initially was some improvement in my fatigue level. This meant that I felt I had more fuel during the day, and was able to be more physically active. My mobility and grip strengths on my feet are definately stronger. Overall, I felt that this really supported my ongoing recovery progress and looking forward to see more positive changes to come!
